Mitsubishi Chemical is in plans to shut a purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant for a maintenance turnaround, reported Apic-online.

A Polymerupdate source in China informed that the plant is expected to be taken off-line in mid-January 2016. It is slated to remain under maintenance for around 15 days.

Located at Ningbo, Zhejiang province in China, the plant has a production capacity of 600,000 mt/year, but usually operates at a rate of 700,000 mt/year.

Ningbo Mitsubishi's plant is a joint venture between China’s CITIC Group (10%) and Ningbo PTA Investment Company (NPI, 90%)). The stakes in NPI is split between Mitsubishi Chemical Company (61%), Itochu (35%) and Mitsubishi Corp (4%).
